5 Incredibly Useful Android Apps Of 2019

Google Play Store

Statistics indicate that developers release an average of 6,140 mobile apps on Google Play Store every day. These apps cover a range of functionality - from games and fitness apps to business apps.

With such a plethora of applications, it can be difficult to determine which app you must have in your device. Moreover, apps get outdated, and new apps take their place.

As of March 2019, here are the most useful apps for your Android device. Note that this list does not include apps that are native to the Android Operating System.

1. Bouncer

Bouncer

Bouncer was the top pick of 2018 according to most Android experts. Bouncer is a security app that allows you to grant temporary permissions to other applications. For example, you can allow Facebook to access your location for just long enough to enable you to check into a venue.

As soon as you leave Facebook, Bouncer disables permission. In addition to keeping you safe from snoopers, the app is convenient because you do not have to keep digging into your settings to give and revoke permissions.

Bouncer, developed by Sam Ruston, became so popular that according to rumors, it could become part of Android Q - the upcoming Android version. Apparently, even Google liked the app.

2. Nova launcher

Nova Launcher

Nova launcher is not a new app; it has been available for ages. However, its popularity is constantly on an upward trajectory because it is smooth, lightweight and fast.

The launcher's developers are constantly updating it, and as a result, it can do more than typical launchers. For instance, the launcher can create icon theme your apps, it can restore and backup your home screen setups, and it has a lot of customization options.

3. Swiftkey

Swiftkey

With over 250 million users across the world, Swiftkey is a must have. It is a keyboard that uses artificial intelligence to learn and predict to a competent extent what the user intends to type.

The keyboard also has auto correct and gesture typing which facilitates faster input. In addition, it features a wide variety of themes, it is well suited to bilingual people, and it has a GIF search engine.

Finally, and arguably most important, Swiftkey does not snoop on what you are typing. That means it does not store sensitive information such as credit card numbers and neither does it store information from the password field.

4. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN

An Android VPN is yet another must-have in this age of zero privacy and massive data insecurity. For one, it allows you to access geo-restricted content. Second, when browsing on public Wi-Fi, the VPN encrypts your traffic to ward off attackers who can otherwise intercept your traffic. Third, and possibly the most important, it protects your privacy from ISPs and the government.

In many countries, ISPs are free to sell users' traffic data. Using that information, advertisers target users with ads so specific that it's creepy, to say the least. Privacy invasion doesn't end there. Government intelligence is known to pry into personal communications in mass surveillance. Invest in the right VPN provider to be protected from all of the above AND enjoy amazing speeds.

5. Evernote

Evernote

Similar to Bouncer, Evernote is also a relatively new app (launched in 2017) that has gained a lot of traction. It is an app for taking notes in a myriad of formats—test, audio, photo, sketches, videos, etc. Evernote syncs across multiple devices and as a result, you get to maintain your workflow.

While it is very similar to the native Google app - Google Keep - Evernote has a more aesthetically pleasing interface and more functions as well.
